HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 436
Commending Trey Edmunds.

WHEREAS, Trey Edmunds of Ringgold, a senior at Dan River High School and a stand-out three-season athlete, was named to the Parade magazine 2012 All-America High School Football Team; and

WHEREAS, Trey Edmunds’ remarkable athletic talent is evident in other sports as he is the 2011 Virginia High School League (VHSL) Group A champion in the 200-meter dash, and he plays varsity basketball for Dan River High School; he scored his 1,000th career point during the 2011 - 2012 season; and

WHEREAS, as the first player in Dan River High School history to be named to the Parade All-America team, Trey Edmunds, who is coached by his father, Ferrell Edmunds, had set many goals for himself and his team for his senior season, and he was thrilled to receive national recognition; and

WHEREAS, Trey Edmunds, who will play football at Virginia Tech in the fall, may be one of the Hokies’ speediest players; he won the 200-meter dash at the VHSL Group A 2011 Outdoor Track state championships with a time of 22.01; and

WHEREAS, with his 1,000-plus-point basketball season as a senior, Trey Edmunds became only the second player coached by Dan River’s Jacob Gruse to reach that high-water mark; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Trey Edmunds on being named to the Parade magazine 2012 All-America High School Football Team and for his many stellar athletic accomplishments; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Trey Edmunds as an expression of the General Assembly’s congratulations for his many talents and best wishes for the future.
