WHEREAS, Alfred Landon Harris, who served the Town of Ridgeway with great distinction as an esteemed member of the Ridgeway Town Council from 2008 to 2011, died on August 1, 2011; and
WHEREAS, known for his congenial manner and strong work ethic, Alfred Harris worked tirelessly alongside his fellow council members to champion important community development improvements that would benefit the citizens of Ridgeway; and
WHEREAS, Alfred Harris took an active role in church and community affairs, serving as deacon and usher at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, committed to the thoughtful development of Ridgeway, Alfred Harris ably served as a member of the Ridgeway Ruritan Club, working on a variety of projects related to the growth and development of Ridgeway; and
WHEREAS, a hardworking and loyal employee, Alfred Harris was employed at Henry County Plywood for 40 years; and
WHEREAS, Alfred Harris had a love of nature and being outdoors; and
WHEREAS, a devoted family man, Alfred Harris will be greatly missed by his wife of 50 years, Annie; three children, Anita, Harold, and Tammy; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of an admired citizen of the Commonwealth, Alfred Landon Harris; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Alfred Landon Harris as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
