HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 414 Celebrating the life of Stephen J. Snow.

WHEREAS, Stephen J. Snow, who faithfully served the residents of Loudoun County as a member of its Board of Supervisors for four years from 2004 to 2007, died on December 15, 2011; and

WHEREAS, born in Wisconsin and raised in Arizona, Stephen J. Snow earned a bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University and a master’s degree from Central Texas University; and

WHEREAS, a dedicated soldier, Stephen J. Snow proudly served his country for 25 years in the United States Army, serving a tour in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot, holding aviation operation and logistical positions, and retiring as a colonel; and

WHEREAS, committed to the prosperity and well-being of Loudoun County, Stephen J. Snow ran for and won election to the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors in 2003 as the representative of the Dulles District; and

WHEREAS, Stephen J. Snow helped found the Loudoun Youth Initiative, created and chaired the Human Services Committee, and served on the board’s Economic Development and Transportation/Land Use Committees; and

WHEREAS, Stephen J. Snow advocated for business expansion along the Rt. 50 corridor and the Transition Policy Area, developing the Rt. 50 Task Force to bring together developers, residents, and property owners to discuss development and transportation issues; and

WHEREAS, Stephen J. Snow devoted countless hours to meeting with constituents, researching issues, and attending meetings, all with the goal of making Loudoun County a better place in which to live, work, and do business; and

WHEREAS, Stephen J. Snow will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife, Patricia; children, Alissa and Marcus, and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of a dedicated public servant, Stephen J. Snow; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Stephen J. Snow as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
