12104342DWHEREAS, the Honorable Samuel Edgar Campbell, whose esteemed service as a judge for the Commonwealth has spanned 30 years, will retire in 2012; and
WHEREAS, as a young man, Samuel Campbell joined the United States Air Force, proudly serving his country before earning a bachelor’s degree from Randolph-Macon College and a law degree from what is now known as the University of Richmond School of Law; and
WHEREAS, Samuel Campbell spent 10 years as a respected trial attorney before being appointed in 1982 as a judge of the Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court of the 6th Judicial District; and
WHEREAS, for 20 years, Judge Campbell presided with great fairness, integrity, and humanity while rendering decisions that impacted the lives of young people and families; and
WHEREAS, in 2002 Judge Campbell was appointed as a judge for the 6th Circuit Court, a position he has held for the past decade; and
WHEREAS, an extremely knowledgeable jurist, Judge Campbell has earned the respect of his colleagues, courtroom staff, and the attorneys who come before the bench with his deep knowledge and love of the law; and
WHEREAS, committed to the fair dispensation of justice, Judge Campbell has been an exemplary role model for other members of the judiciary and legal profession; and
WHEREAS, for three decades, Judge Campbell has faithfully served the residents of the Commonwealth and now looks forward to spending time with family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Honorable Samuel Edgar Campbell for his dedication to Virginia’s judicial system and his profession; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Honorable Samuel Edgar Campbell as an expression of the General Assembly’s gratitude for his longtime public service.
