Commending the Hidden Valley High School girls' track team.

WHEREAS, the Hidden Valley High School girls’ track team outperformed all other competitors at the Virginia High School League 2010 - 2011 Group AA Outdoor Track and Field State Championships to win the state title; and

WHEREAS, the girls’ track team at the Roanoke County high school is under the guidance of Timesland Girls Coach of the Year Daniel King; and

WHEREAS, Hidden Valley’s 2010 - 2011 championship team included two nationally recognized senior runners, Annie LeHardy, who won the 1,600-meter race at the state meet, and Haley Cutright, who placed second in the 3,200-meter event; and

WHEREAS, the depth of the Hidden Valley High School team’s talent was recognized when a total of six runners were named to the All State Track and Field team, and 12 team members received All District Track and Field Team honors; and

WHEREAS, the girls’ team broke a multitude of school and meet records in 2010 - 2011, including Annie LeHardy’s time of 4 minutes and 55.84 seconds in the 1,600-meter race; and

WHEREAS, the Hidden Valley High School team also achieved the second-fastest time in state history in two events: the 4x1,600-meter relay, finishing in 20 minutes, 57.50 seconds; and the distance medley relay, which was completed in 11 minutes, 46.93 seconds; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Hidden Valley High School girls’ track team for winning the Virginia High School League 2010 - 2011 Group AA Outdoor Track and Field State Championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Cross Country and Track and Field Head Coach Daniel King as an expression of the General Assembly’s congratulations on the team’s outstanding athletic achievements.
