2012 SESSION
WHEREAS, during the 2011 state championship, the Christiansburg High School wrestling team continued its powerhouse performance by winning the Group AA wrestling title in Virginia High School League competition for an impressive 10th year in a row; and
WHEREAS, in the Virginia High School League state finals, the Christiansburg High School wrestlers were victorious over a talented Grundy High School team, 258.0 to 133.0; and
WHEREAS, the Christiansburg High School wrestling team demonstrated its depth of talent with seven grapplers finishing in first place: Kyle Dulaney, J.R. Wert, Joey Dance, Logan Bosley, Zach Epperly, Rich Eva, and Marquis Porterfield; and
WHEREAS, Rich Eva, who most recently competed in the 160-lb. weight class, is a three-time state champion, and the two-time state champions from Christiansburg High School are Joey Dance, 119-lb. weight class in 2011, and Zach Epperly, 145-lb. weight class in 2011; and
WHEREAS, the four other state champions on the talented Blue Demons team are: Kyle Dulaney, 103-lb. weight class; J.R. Wert, 112-lb. weight class; Logan Bosley, 135-lb. weight class; and Marquis Porterfield, 285-lb. weight class; and
WHEREAS, during the 2010 - 2011 season, the Christiansburg High School wrestling team had a 16-1 record in dual meets; it finished third in the Hopewell Classic tourney, and was ninth in the Beast of the East wrestling tournament, which is one of the most competitive high school competitions in the country; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Christiansburg High School wrestling team on its 2011 Virginia High School League Group AA state championship; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Head Coach Daryl Weber and the members of the Christiansburg High School wrestling team as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration and congratulations on the team’s 10 consecutive wrestling championships.
