2012 SESSION
WHEREAS, Jeremy L. Shifflett ably served as the Beverley Manor District Supervisor on the Augusta County Board of Supervisors from 2008 through 2011; and
WHEREAS, though young in years, Jeremy Shifflett brought both leadership and practical business experience to the board and gained the confidence of his fellow supervisors, who selected him to serve as vice-chair in 2010 and chair in 2011; and
WHEREAS, Jeremy Shifflett worked alongside his fellow supervisors, county employees, and county and area officials to ensure the efficient and effective operation of local government for the residents of Augusta County; and
WHEREAS, Jeremy Shifflett served as a member of the Emergency Services Committee, Property Committee, and Ordinance Committee and as the liaison to the library board and the Virginia Association of Counties Transportation Committee; and
WHEREAS, a firm believer in regional efforts to enhance the prosperity and well-being of Augusta County, Jeremy Shifflett served on the Central Shenandoah Planning District Commission, including as vice-chair in 2011; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure, Jeremy Shifflett devoted countless hours to attending meetings, researching and studying issues, and responding to constituent concerns; and
WHEREAS, one of the youngest chairs of a board of supervisors in the state, Jeremy Shifflett was the youngest member and youngest chair of the board of supervisors in Augusta County history, serving as a role model for civic engagement for his generation; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Jeremy L. Shifflett for his outstanding service and devotion to his fellow residents during his service on the Augusta County Board of Supervisors; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Jeremy L. Shifflett as an expression of the General Assembly’s appreciation and gratitude for his public service.
