2012 SESSION
WHEREAS, William Harvey Pritchett, who served the residents of Pittsylvania County with great distinction for 20 years as the Banister District representative, retired in 2011; and
WHEREAS, a respected community leader, William Pritchett worked alongside fellow supervisors, county government leaders, and area officials to ensure the efficient and effective operation of local government; and
WHEREAS, William Pritchett ably represented the board of supervisors on a number of committees, providing thoughtful guidance and insight on a wide range of concerns facing residents of Pittsylvania County; and
WHEREAS, throughout his tenure, William Pritchett devoted countless hours to attending meetings, studying issues, and responding to constituent needs; and
WHEREAS, a longtime member of Bethel Baptist Church, William Pritchett served as a Sunday school superintendent for over 40 years and currently provides inspired leadership as chair of the deacon board; and
WHEREAS, William Pritchett was honored for his many contributions to Pittsylvania County on October 29, 2011, at a retirement celebration that drew over 250 attendees and featured speakers from the community who praised his many contributions; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend William Harvey Pritchett on the occasion of his retirement from the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to William Harvey Pritchett as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration and gratitude for his commitment to public service.
