2012 SESSION
12103648DWHEREAS, in 2012 the Clay Springs Ruritan Club proudly celebrates 50 years of serving the residents of Hanover County; and
WHEREAS, since 1928, Ruritan Clubs have dedicated themselves to improving communities and building a better America through fellowship, goodwill, and community service; and
WHEREAS, chartered on March 6, 1962, the Clay Springs Ruritan Club has had many devoted members over the years, several of whom have over 40 years of perfect attendance, including Ernest Goodman (50 years), Berkley “Buck” Hale (47 years), Alvin Loving (45 years), Monroe Loving (44 years), Manuel Wampler (43 years), and Brooken Loving (41 years); and
WHEREAS, throughout its history, the Clay Springs Ruritan Club has made valuable contributions to the local community by providing needed funds to area organizations, promoting community fellowship, and assisting in service efforts; and
WHEREAS, the Clay Springs Ruritan Club has generously supported the Hanover Sheriff’s Department and local fire and rescue squads, provided college scholarships to local students, organized and participated in blood drives, held youth leadership programs, given assistance to needy families, and supported local Boy Scout troops; and
WHEREAS, the Clay Springs Ruritan Club members have generously given of their time and talents over the years to make their community a better place in which to live and work and look forward to continuing to serve local residents in the future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Clay Springs Ruritan Club on the occasion of its 50th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Clay Springs Ruritan Club as an expression of the General Assembly’s congratulations and admiration for the Club’s commitment to serving the community.
