2012 SESSION
12104158DWHEREAS, Dowell Richardson, a devoted husband, a veteran, and a true son of Southwest Virginia, passed away on January 7, 2012; and
WHEREAS, Dowell Richardson, who was born and raised in Virginia’s beautiful Tazewell County, served in the United States Army; following his military service, he was involved in coal operations, automobile sales, and NASCAR merchandising; and
WHEREAS, faith and family meant a great deal to Dowell Richardson throughout his life; he found great pleasure in the times he spent with his grandchildren, and he belonged to Pine Creek Holiness Church, where he enjoyed worship and fellowship with other church members; and
WHEREAS, Dowell Richardson’s roots in Southwest Virginia ran deep as he was born in the picturesque community of Raven and later moved to Doran; throughout his life he was surrounded by the majestic ridges and valleys of Southwest Virginia; and
WHEREAS, Dowell Richardson leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 40 years, Jackie; his daughter, Beverly, and her family; his sons, Pete and Ryder, and their families; and many other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of a loving family man, a person of faith, and a son of Virginia who proudly called Tazewell County home, Dowell Richardson; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Dowell Richardson as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
