HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 250
Celebrating the life of Alice R. Morris.

WHEREAS, Alice R. Morris of Chesapeake, a loving mother and grandmother, peacefully transitioned from the earthly world on January 9, 2011; and

WHEREAS, Alice Morris was known for her sweet and giving personality; her friends and family fondly remember her warmhearted ways and the support she provided to those who loved her; and

WHEREAS, with a smile always on her face, Alice Morris gave generously of her time and talents to her family and her community; it was a characteristic that endeared her to many people in the Tidewater area; and

WHEREAS, Alice Morris worked at the Copying Center at Norfolk State University, where she developed fond friendships with the students, and she deepened those connections in her role as the sponsor of the undergraduate cheerleaders during the 1970s and 1980s; and

WHEREAS, those left to cherish the memory of Alice Morris are her three daughters, Angela, Danice, and Wanda; one brother, Alphonso; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of a devoted mother and friend to all who met her, Alice R. Morris; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Alice R. Morris as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for her memory.
