WHEREAS, Dr. Nancy Hoover, an exemplary leader and educator in Chesterfield County, Virginia, was awarded a 2011 Community Hero Award, Teacher, by the Chesterfield County Chamber of Commerce; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Nancy Hoover was also selected as the Air Force Association National Teacher of the Year for 2011 over candidates from all 50 states; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Hoover was selected over 11 candidates in Virginia as the Virginia Air Force Association State Teacher of the Year in 2011; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Hoover was the Leigh Wade Chapter of the Air Force Association Teacher of the Year; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Hoover was selected as the Teacher of the Year for the Chesterfield County Public Schools in 2011; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Hoover earned her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from the School of Education at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, in December 2009; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Hoover is the Specialty Center Coordinator for the Governor’s Academy for Engineering Studies at Lloyd C. Bird High School in Chesterfield, Virginia; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Hoover was selected to give a presentation entitled “Teachers’ Instruction Use of Student Assessment Data” before the American Educational Research Association’s Annual Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana, in April 2011 and has given numerous other presentations to educational organizations and groups on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) topics; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Hoover is a highly respected classroom teacher and led her students in a rocket competition at Lloyd C. Bird High School in 2011; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Hoover is a leading educator both in the community and in the Commonwealth; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Dr. Nancy Hoover for her many contributions to education in Chesterfield County; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Dr. Nancy Hoover as an expression of the General Assembly’s congratulations and admiration for her many accomplishments.
