WHEREAS, Hunt Riegel, a dedicated member of the Rockbridge County Board of Supervisors, retired after four years of service; and

WHEREAS, a longtime Rockbridge County resident, Hunt Riegel brought a deep commitment to and love for Rockbridge County as well as a wealth of special education, business, and community service experience to the board of supervisors; and

WHEREAS, the Natural Bridge District representative, Hunt Riegel was elected to the board of supervisors and began his term of service in 2008, providing leadership as chair for one year and proving to be a voice for the managed growth and development of Rockbridge County; and

WHEREAS, Hunt Riegel worked alongside fellow supervisors, county government leaders, and area officials to ensure residents had necessary services while also preserving the county’s scenic farmland; and

WHEREAS, Hunt Riegel also provided valuable insight and guidance as the county considered waste management issues and began the installation of a fiber optic broadband network; and

WHEREAS, a respected community leader, Hunt Riegel serves as the chair of the Rockbridge Area Network Authority, which seeks to promote and provide high speed broadband access to the area, and as a member of the Rockbridge County Disability Services board; and

WHEREAS, during retirement, Hunt Riegel looks forward to pursuing his hobby of woodworking and spending time with family and friends while continuing to serve the community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Hunt Riegel on the occasion of his retirement from the Rockbridge County Board of Supervisors; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Hunt Riegel as an expression of the General Assembly’s gratitude for his commitment to serving Rockbridge County.
