WHEREAS, Raymond E. Graham served the residents of Fauquier County with great devotion as the Cedar Run Magisterial District member and chair of the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors; and

WHEREAS, a longtime resident of Fauquier County, Raymond Graham has dedicated himself to public service throughout his adult life; and

WHEREAS, a former educator, Raymond Graham taught in the Fairfax and Fauquier County public schools and at Northern Virginia Community College, instructing and mentoring a rising generation; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Graham retired as Deputy Director of Fairfax County Community and Recreation Services after a 28-year career spent enhancing the quality of life for all Fairfax County residents through the wise planning and implementation of community services and activities; and

WHEREAS, desirous to be of further service, Raymond Graham ran for and was elected to the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors, beginning his first term in 2000 and twice winning reelection; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Graham exercised great skill and careful attention to the needs and concerns of his constituents and all residents of Fauquier County during his tenure; and

WHEREAS, a respected leader known for his ability to facilitate thoughtful and productive discussion, Raymond Graham served as vice-chair of the board of supervisors in 2004, 2007, and 2010 and as chair in 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, and 2011; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Graham worked alongside his fellow supervisors, county officials, and local leaders to implement priorities and initiatives that would provide appropriate services and programs to Fauquier County residents in an efficient and cost-effective manner; and

WHEREAS, after years of dedicated public service, Raymond Graham looks forward to spending time with his family and continuing to serve the community through his involvement with Grace Episcopal Church, CCC Ruritan Club, and the Fauquier County Republican Committee; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Raymond E. Graham for his exemplary service to the residents of Fauquier County; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Raymond E. Graham as an expression of the General Assembly’s gratitude for his service and best wishes in his future endeavors.
