2012 SESSION
WHEREAS, Luigi and Anna Maria Tonizzo, the owners of Mike’s Italian Restaurant on Route 1 in Alexandria, retired after 36 years of providing delicious and traditional Italian cuisine to the local community; and
WHEREAS, a native of Venice, Italy, Luigi Tonizzo bought Mike’s Italian Restaurant in 1975 and together with his brothers, developed a menu based on hearty, authentic recipes inspired by their mother and the Old World; and
WHEREAS, Luigi and Anna Maria Tonizzo introduced their patrons to the tastes of Italy while providing a welcoming environment in which friends and family could meet and enjoy a flavorful Italian meal; and
WHEREAS, over the years, Luigi and Anna Maria Tonizzo developed Richmond Highway Institution with a loyal clientele who came to Mike’s Italian Restaurant to joyously celebrate weddings, confirmations, communions, and other momentous life events; and
WHEREAS, countless customers retain fond memories of Mike’s Italian Restaurant and close friendships with Luigi and Anna Maria Tonizzo, who now look forward to spending time with their three children and their families, including several grandchildren; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Luigi and Anna Maria Tonizzo on the occasion of their retirement; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Luigi and Anna Maria Tonizzo as an expression of the General Assembly’s appreciation for the Tonizzos’ contributions to the local community and best wishes in their future endeavors.
