WHEREAS, Wendell L. Coleman ably served as the Wayne Magisterial District Supervisor on the Augusta County Board of Supervisors from 2004 to 2011; and

WHEREAS, a dedicated public servant, Wendell Coleman served as vice-chair of the Augusta County Board of Supervisors in 2005 and 2011 and as chair in 2006, providing effective leadership to the Board and representing Augusta County on numerous local and regional entities; and

WHEREAS, Wendell Coleman strove to ensure the efficient and effective operation of local government and respond to residents’ needs, while working cooperatively with fellow supervisors, the local school board, county staff, and the county administrator; and

WHEREAS, dedicated to making a difference in the community, Wendell Coleman spent countless hours attending meetings and listening to residents in an effort to better understand local needs and provide solutions; and

WHEREAS, Wendell Coleman has provided valuable guidance and insight to community and civic endeavors as a member of the Augusta Health Community Health Forum and the board of directors of the Shenandoah Valley Partnership; and

WHEREAS, as a former member and president of the Preston L. Yancey Volunteer Fire Company, Wendell Coleman recognized the important role that first responders play in the safety of the local community; and

WHEREAS, a hardworking and enthusiastic advocate for Augusta County, Wendell Coleman has helped to enhance Augusta County’s reputation as a great place to work, attend school, and visit; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Wendell L. Coleman for his outstanding service and devotion to his fellow residents during his service on the Augusta County Board of Supervisors; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Wendell L. Coleman as an expression of the General Assembly’s appreciation and gratitude for his public service.
