Commending Pastor George Beaven.

WHEREAS, Pastor George Beaven celebrates 20 years as pastor of Christ Our Lord Church in Lake Ridge in 2012; and

WHEREAS, after receiving a bachelor’s degree from The George Washington University, George Beaven proudly served his country for 26 years in the United States Navy; and

WHEREAS, upon retiring from the military, George Beaven pursued theological studies, completing a master of divinity degree from the Trinity School for Ministry, and was called to form a new church in the Lake Ridge section of Woodbridge; and

WHEREAS, on Easter Sunday 1992, Christ Our Lord Church, under Pastor Beaven’s inspired leadership, held its first public worship service, inviting community members to join together in praise and study; and

WHEREAS, Pastor Beaven has guided Christ Our Lord Church with deep humility and great insight, establishing a variety of missions to better serve the congregation and community while providing thoughtful weekly sermons to nurture congregants in their walks of faith; and

WHEREAS, desirous to share the gospel message, Pastor Beaven has encouraged the support of missionary efforts in the local community, across the nation, and around the world; and

WHEREAS, a respected pastor of the Anglican Church in North America, Pastor Beaven has served as Director for Church Planting for the Diocese of the Holy Spirit and chair of the Church Planting Commission for the Anglican District of Virginia; and

WHEREAS, the congregation of Christ Our Lord Church in Lake Ridge has relied upon Pastor Beaven’s remarkable faith, visionary leadership, and commitment to service for the past two decades; and

WHEREAS, Pastor Beaven has been supported in all his endeavors by his wife of 40 years, Linda, who serves as the church secretary and pastoral associate for women’s ministries, and their two children and their families; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Pastor George Beaven for his 20 years of selfless service to the Christ Our Lord Church in Lake Ridge; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Pastor George Beaven as an expression of the General Assembly’s appreciation and admiration for his dedication to his congregation and the community.
