Celebrating the life of Wanda June M. Roberts.

WHEREAS, Wanda June M. Roberts, who will be fondly remembered for her many contributions to the Town of Damascus, died on November 26, 2011; and

WHEREAS, Wanda Roberts grew up in Damascus, developing a deep appreciation for its natural beauty, and graduated from Bethel High School; she furthered her education with studies at West Virginia Business College and Virginia Highlands Community College; and

WHEREAS, a licensed certified nursing assistant, Wanda Roberts compassionately cared for patients as she provided vital home health and personal care services to individuals across Washington County; and

WHEREAS, as a longtime resident of Damascus, Wanda Roberts recognized the need for a municipal rescue squad to better serve the community and was a charter member of the Damascus Volunteer Rescue Squad; and

WHEREAS, Wanda Roberts remained active in the Damascus Volunteer Rescue Squad ladies auxiliary, working alongside other women in the community to support the rescue squad in its efforts; and

WHEREAS, an active member of the Washington County Republican Party, Wanda Roberts graciously and generously donated her time and energies in various capacities; and

WHEREAS, predeceased by children Tamara and Samuel, Wanda Roberts leaves behind to cherish her memory her two surviving children, Beanie and Donna, and their families; numerous other family members; and a host of friends and former patients; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of a beloved citizen of Damascus, Wanda June M. Roberts; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Wanda June M. Roberts as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for her memory.
