WHEREAS, Lawrence G. Sprader retired as the esteemed Clerk of the Henrico General District Court on December 31, 2011, after 13 years of distinguished service; and
WHEREAS, Lawrence Sprader, a decorated veteran of the United States Army who served three tours in Vietnam, gained valuable legal experience over the course of his 24-year career in the military and earned an associate’s degree from Saint Leo College (now University) at the Fort Lee Campus; and
WHEREAS, upon his retirement from the military, Lawrence Sprader briefly joined the Petersburg Circuit Court as deputy clerk before becoming deputy clerk and acting Clerk for the Sussex General and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Combined Courts; and
WHEREAS, after ably serving as the Clerk for the Isle of Wight General District Court, Lawrence Sprader joined the Henrico General District Court as Clerk in 1998, bringing a wealth of experience and commitment to public service; and
WHEREAS, as Clerk of the Court, Lawrence Sprader ensured the skillful administration and efficient operation of Henrico General District Court proceedings, managing judicial calendars and maintaining the many files associated with the cases heard before the court; and
WHEREAS, a longtime member of the Association of Clerks of the District Courts of Virginia, Lawrence Sprader served as parliamentarian and co-chair of the legislative committee and worked diligently to support other clerks across the Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, a valued member of the Henrico General District Court staff for over a decade, the honorable judges, support staff, and residents of Henrico County have greatly appreciated Lawrence Sprader’s professionalism, dedication, and support; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Lawrence G. Sprader on the occasion of his retirement as Clerk of the Henrico General District Court; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Lawrence G. Sprader as an expression of the General Assembly’s gratitude for his years of faithful service to the Commonwealth.
