HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 157
Commending George and Laura Price.

WHEREAS, George and Laura Price were selected by the Herndon Rotary Club as its 2011 Citizens of the Year; and

WHEREAS, active volunteers for many years, George and Laura Price take great pride in helping out in their community; and

WHEREAS, desirous to be of service alongside other working women, Laura Price began her volunteer efforts with the local Business and Professional Women’s Club, becoming local, regional, and state president as well as the chair of the Business and Professional Women’s Foundation; and

WHEREAS, Laura Price also gave of her time and talents to the Herndon Woman’s Club and Herndon Fortnightly Club and joined her husband to lend a hand at Friday Night Live!, a popular outdoor concert series, where he organizes the marshals; and

WHEREAS, George Price also began his volunteer efforts with the Business and Professional Women’s Club and Herndon Woman’s Club, setting up booths for special events and tracking sales of T-shirts; and

WHEREAS, a familiar face with the Town of Herndon’s Parks and Recreation Department, George Price helps the department with a variety of tasks; and

WHEREAS, George and Laura Price have played a vital role in supporting local youth through their longtime involvement in the Optimist Club of Herndon, with both having served as club president; and

WHEREAS, George Price has worked with the Optimist Club of Herndon’s Partners in Education program for several years, while Laura Price ran one of the club’s largest fundraisers for five years; and

WHEREAS, George and Laura Price have earned multiple honors for their efforts to make Herndon a great place in which to live and work, including Optimist of the Year awards from the Herndon chapter and previous recognitions from the Town of Herndon and Fairfax County; Laura Price was also named Lady Fairfax in 2006; and

WHEREAS, worthy recipients of the Citizens of the Year recognition, George and Laura Price have made countless contributions over the years to help make their community a better place in which to live; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend George and Laura Price on their selection as Herndon Rotary Club’s 2011 Citizens of the Year; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to George and Laura Price as an expression of the General Assembly’s congratulations and admiration for their service to the community.
