HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 152
Commending the Cave Spring High School volleyball team.

WHEREAS, the Cave Spring High School volleyball team won the 2011 Virginia High School League Group AA championship in a decisive victory, achieving the fifth state volleyball title for the Knights; and

WHEREAS, in triumphantly claiming the 2011 trophy, which the team was determined to win and take back to their Roanoke County high school, the Cave Spring Knights defeated Jamestown High School three games to none; and

WHEREAS, the scores in the victory match were 25 - 14, 25 - 19, and 25 - 22, with the Cave Spring Knights’ defense mounting a masterful effort throughout the title match, culminating in the final winning shot coming off the right foot of senior Shannon Craighead; and

WHEREAS, the last time the Cave Spring volleyball team won the state championship was in 2006, yet the strength and depth of the current Cave Spring team is evident due to the seniors who played in the last two semi-final competitions; and

WHEREAS, the Cave Spring High School Knights are coached by Tamalyn Tanis, who, in her 10 years as volleyball coach for the Knights, has led the team to five state championships; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Cave Spring High School volleyball team for winning the Virginia High School League Group AA championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Tamalyn Tanis, coach of the Cave Spring High School volleyball team, as an expression of the General Assembly’s congratulations and admiration for the team’s outstanding season.
