12100877DBe it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 30-120 of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows:
§ 30-120. Senate and House Committees on Standards of Conduct.
Either Each house of the General
Assembly may shall
establish, in its rules, a Committee on Standards of Conduct to be appointed as
provided in its rules and consisting of three members which shall consist of five
persons as follows: two members of
the house and of its majority party, one of whom shall be a member of
the house and of its minority party, one retired
justice or judge of the Commonwealth, and one citizen who is
a member of the Virginia State Bar with experience in
matters of ethics and standards of conduct. The Committee shall
consider any request by a member of its house for an advisory opinion as to
whether the facts in a particular case would constitute a violation of the
provisions of this chapter and may consider other matters assigned to it
pursuant to the rules of its house.
