HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 502 Commending the Holmes Run Acres Civic Association.

 

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, April 11, 2011

 

WHEREAS, Holmes Run Acres, a well-known Fairfax County community that boasts a beautiful natural environment and contemporary-style homes, will celebrate its 60th anniversary in 2011; and

WHEREAS, offering an attractive community with a close proximity to Washington, D.C., Holmes Run Acres quickly grew and residents formed the Holmes Run Acres Civic Association to provide needed services; and

WHEREAS, the Holmes Run Acres Civic Association built the first community swimming pool in Fairfax County and, in conjunction with the Fairfax County Park Authority, created the first neighborhood park in the county; and

WHEREAS, over the years, the Holmes Run Acres Civic Association has held numerous activities and events for the enjoyment of the community, including house and garden tours, art shows, clubs, and countless social events; and

WHEREAS, Holmes Run Acres Civic Association volunteer efforts resulted in the historic community receiving a listing on the Virginia Landmarks Register in 2006 and the National Register of Historic Places in 2007; and

WHEREAS, the Holmes Run Acres Civic Association will mark the neighborhood’s 60th anniversary with historic plaques for all the homes and the installation of new signs at the entrances to the neighborhood; and

WHEREAS, residents of Holmes Run Acres enjoy living in a close-knit and architecturally significant neighborhood in beautiful natural surroundings with an active civic association that has contributed to the cohesiveness of the community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Holmes Run Acres Civic Association be commended for providing the residents of Holmes Run Acres with exemplary service; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Holmes Run Acres Civic Association as an expression of the House of Delegates’ congratulations and admiration for the Association’s many contributions to Holmes Run Acres.
