Introduced by: L. Louise Lucas | all patrons    ...    notes | add to my profiles | history

SUMMARY AS PASSED SENATE:

Jail processing fee.  Allows a locality to divide the fees collected post-conviction proportionately between a police department and the sheriff's department if costs are incurred by a police department for booking or fingerprinting services. Currently, the fee may go only to sheriff's offices and regional jails. This bill is identical to HB 2284.

SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:

Jail processing fee.  Allows any sheriff's department, regional jail, or police department that is performing jail processing activities to receive the $25 processing fee that is collected by the clerk following conviction as part of the court costs to defray costs of processing arrested persons into local jails. Currently, the fee may go only to sheriff's offices and regional jails, but in some localities the local police department, rather than the sheriff's office, is processing arrested individuals into jail.
