SB 1239 Personal Information Privacy Act; makes several amendments to Act.
Introduced by: Patricia S. Ticer | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Personal Information Privacy Act. Makes several amendments to the Personal Information Privacy Act. The bill would prohibit a person from requiring an individual to provide his social security number to access goods and services if he also is required to provide a credit card or debit card number. The bill reinserts language that states that restrictions on the use of social security numbers set forth in the Act do not apply to records open under the Virginia Freedom of Information Act. This language was removed by the General Assembly in 2008. Finally, the bill makes changes to the damages provisions of the Act.
