SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Public charter schools. Amends the definitions of a public charter school and a regional public charter school to allow for such schools to operate as virtual school programs. The bill further provides that, in the case of a public charter school or regional public charter school operating as a virtual school program, school personnel may be employed through a contractual agreement with the local school board to deliver online instruction, provided that such personnel delivering online instruction to students through virtual school programs are licensed by the Board and subject to certain background check requirements.
