SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Virginia State Virtual School; Board of Visitors; established. Establishes the Board of Visitors of the Virginia State Virtual School as a policy agency in the executive branch of government, under the name of the "Virginia State Virtual School," for the purpose of governing the online educational programs and services offered to students enrolled in the Virginia State Virtual School. The Secretary of Education is responsible for such agency. The 11-member Board is given operational control of the School and assigned various powers and duties. The bill requires the School to be open to any school-age person in the Commonwealth, subject to local school division approval and admission by the Board, and to provide an educational program meeting the Standards of Quality for grades K-12.
