SUMMARY AS PASSED:
Hospitals; DNA sampling of infants. Requires every hospital providing maternity care to offer to obtain a sample of blood from an infant born at the hospital and provide that sample to the mother of the infant. This bill has a delayed effective date of July 1, 2012.

SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Hospitals; DNA sampling of infants. Requires every hospital providing maternity care to take a sample of an infant's DNA at such time as mandatory genetic screenings are performed, and provide that sample to the infant's mother prior to releasing the infant from the hospital, unless the mother objects.
