HB 1689 Pound net licenses; prohibits Marine Resources Commission from issuing in waters of Chesapeake Bay.

SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:

Pound net licenses.  Prohibits the Marine Resources Commission from issuing any additional pound net licenses to persons who want to set pound nets in the waters of the Chesapeake Bay east of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. Current license holders can continue to fish these waters with pound nets. The bill also makes it unlawful for a holder of this license to transfer his license to anyone who would set a pound net in the designated area. A pound net license can be transferred if the pound net is set in waters outside of the designated area.
