Commending Colonel Henry Winfred Stanley, Jr.

WHEREAS, Colonel Henry Winfred Stanley, Jr., will retire from the Henrico County Division of Police on April 8, 2011; and

WHEREAS, Colonel Stanley has served as Chief of Police for the Henrico County Division of Police since August 1995; and

WHEREAS, as chief, Colonel Stanley is responsible for the division’s 818 personnel, serving a community of 307,000 citizens within a 244-square-mile area; and

WHEREAS, Colonel Stanley is a graduate of the 123rd Session Federal Bureau of Investigation (F.B.I.) National Academy and the 24th Session F.B.I. National Executive Institute; he currently serves as a board member of the F.B.I. Richmond Regional Joint Terrorism Task Force and is a 12-year member of the F.B.I. Criminal Justice Advisory Policy Board, Southern Region Working Group; and

WHEREAS, Colonel Stanley served as an adjunct faculty member at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College, where he currently serves on the Advisory Board for Curriculum Development; and

WHEREAS, Colonel Stanley has been active in the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police, serving in all association positions including president and chairman of many committees; he is a board member of the Virginia Police Chiefs Foundation and a member of the Police Executive Research Forum and the Henrico Business Council; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly commend Colonel Henry Winfred Stanley, Jr., on the occasion of his retirement from the Henrico County Division of Police; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Colonel Henry Winfred Stanley, Jr., as an expression of the General Assembly’s appreciation for his many contributions to the law-enforcement community and dedicated service to the citizens of both the County of Henrico and the Commonwealth.
