11105446DWHEREAS, founded in 1965, the Louisa Little League Association has enjoyed 46 seasons of play and brought supportive competition to generations of Louisa County youth; and
WHEREAS, the Louisa Little League Association fosters the ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, courage, and respect in the children of Louisa County; and
WHEREAS, the Louisa Little League Association works to endow young athletes with the skills that will encourage them to grow to be good, decent, healthy, and trustworthy citizens; and
WHEREAS, a sanctioned affiliate of Little League Baseball, Inc., the world’s largest organized youth sports program, the Louisa Little League Association separates participants into divisions based on their age and skill level; and
WHEREAS, with 10 different leagues playing baseball and softball in eight locations throughout the county, more than 300 children between the ages of seven and 15 participate in the Louisa Little League Association annually; and
WHEREAS, the Louisa Little League Association brings together more than 20 local businesses that represent a variety of services and industries in Louisa County and proudly sponsor teams and events throughout the season; and
WHEREAS, during the summer of 2010, the Louisa Little League Association hosted the Virginia Little League All-Star Tournament and fielded baseball and softball teams in the tournament; and
WHEREAS, with John K. Millholland III serving as the league’s first official manager in 1965, the success of the Louisa Little League Association is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the myriad community sponsors, league organizers, and volunteers and the many coaches, players, and families who enjoy baseball and softball throughout Louisa County; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly commend the Louisa Little League Association for the opportunities it continues to provide to young athletes in Louisa County; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Louisa Little League Association as an expression of the General Assembly’s appreciation for the league’s commitment to the young people and the community of Louisa County and the Commonwealth.
