2011 SESSION
11105121DWHEREAS, Mark Bendorf will retire as a Robinson High School teacher and football coach in Fairfax County in the spring of 2011; and
WHEREAS, during his 14 years as the head football coach at Robinson, Mark Bendorf has led the Rams to two Virginia High School League, AAA state championships; and
WHEREAS, as head coach of the Robinson Rams, Mark Bendorf maintained a rigorous training schedule, worked with committed assistant coaches, and directed talented players; and
WHEREAS, in 1997, Mark Bendorf guided the triumphant Robinson High School football team to its first ever state championship; and
WHEREAS, in 2001, Mark Bendorf repeated that feat and the team relished placing a second state championship trophy in their display case; and
WHEREAS, in addition to two state football championships, Mark Bendorf will leave an impressive 130–35 winning career record, seven district titles, and 11 playoff season appearances; and
WHEREAS, at the end of the 2010 season, Mark Bendorf led the Robinson Rams to a 9–3 season record and advanced to the region semifinals; and
WHEREAS, Mark Bendorf has served as the chair of the physical education department and the dedicated football coach at Robinson High School for 19 of the 30 years that he has worked for the Fairfax County Public Schools; and
WHEREAS, upon his retirement at the end of the 2010–2011 school year, Mark Bendorf will be missed not only by the many student athletes to whom he so generously gave his time but also by his colleagues at Robinson High School; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly commend Mark Bendorf on the occasion of his retirement from Robinson High School; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Mark Bendorf as an expression of the General Assembly’s congratulations and appreciation for his commitment to the young people of Fairfax County and the Commonwealth.
