11104874DWHEREAS, Beverly Cosham was honored by the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce and Reston Interfaith, Inc., with a prestigious 2011 Best of Reston Award; and
WHEREAS, the Best of Reston Awards were established to recognize individuals, businesses, and organizations that have demonstrated a strong commitment to serving the greater Reston community and improving the lives of others; and
WHEREAS, Beverly Cosham is a highly regarded performing arts professional, who is a trained and nationally acclaimed vocalist who has volunteered and worked to advocate for the arts; and
WHEREAS, Beverly Cosham believes that life is well spent serving others and the arts, bringing beauty into the world, and leaving a legacy of joy; and
WHEREAS, Beverly Cosham is a creator of arts organizations and a founding member of the Reston Chorale, Reston Community Players, and Lorton Arts Foundation; and
WHEREAS, Beverly Cosham serves many meaningful roles in the arts community, including as a member of the Arts Council of Fairfax County Grant Advisory Panel for eight years; as a member Board of Governors of the Reston Community Center for nine years, with three years as chair; and as president of the Reston Community Orchestra; and
WHEREAS, Beverly Cosham gives back to the community by volunteering at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, the Helen Hayes Awards in Washington, D.C., Reston Historic Trust, and the Reston Museum; and
WHEREAS, Beverly Cosham, through her broad cross-section of arts and cultural enterprises and partnerships, is able to guide the development of the arts to improve the Reston community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly commend and congratulate Beverly Cosham on her outstanding service to the residents of Northern Virginia and on her well-deserved honor as a 2011 Best of Reston Award recipient; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Beverly Cosham as an expression of the General Assembly’s appreciation of her many achievements and best wishes for continued success.
