11104020DWHEREAS, Jane Carter Branson will retire on March 1, 2011, as Clerk of the Westmoreland General District Court; and
WHEREAS, as a public servant of the highest caliber, Jane Branson has served in the Westmoreland General District Court for more than three decades; and
WHEREAS, initially hired as a part-time deputy clerk on May 1, 1977, Jane Branson quickly showed her aptitude for the position and became a valued and respected member of the court’s administrative staff; and
WHEREAS, Jane Branson exhibited proficiency and utmost professionalism during her first year working with the Westmoreland General District Court and was promoted to full-time deputy clerk on July 1, 1978; and
WHEREAS, having dedicated her time and energies to the smooth and efficient operations of the Westmoreland General District Court in her role as deputy clerk, Jane Branson was promoted to Clerk of the Court on January 1, 1991; and
WHEREAS, as the Clerk of the Court, Jane Branson oversaw the general administration of the court including managing judicial calendars, maintaining the many files associated with cases heard at Westmoreland General District Court, and making public information easily accessible and readily available; and
WHEREAS, upon her retirement, Jane Branson will leave a 34-year legacy of skilled management with the 15th Judicial District; and
WHEREAS, the honorable judges, support staff, and grateful members of the public in Westmoreland County have enjoyed and appreciated Jane Branson’s time and dedication to the Westmoreland General District Court; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That Jane Carter Branson be commended on the occasion of her retirement as Clerk of the Westmoreland General District Court; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Jane Carter Branson as an expression of the General Assembly’s appreciation for her years of faithful service to the Commonwealth.
