A BILL to amend the Code of Virginia by adding in Article 3 of Chapter 8 of Title 46.2 a section numbered 46.2-836.1, relating to right turns by vehicles facing left green arrow signals.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1.  That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding in Article 3 of Chapter 8 of Title 46.2 a section numbered 46.2-836.1 as follows:

§ 46.2-836.1. Right turn on left green arrow after yielding right-of-way.

Notwithstanding the provisions of § 46.2-833, except where signs are placed prohibiting doing so, vehicular traffic facing a left turn green arrow may cautiously enter the intersection and make a right turn in the same manner as if facing a yield right-of-way sign.

Such turning traffic shall yield the right-of-way to pedestrians lawfully within an adjacent crosswalk and to other traffic using the intersection.
