Commending David Alan Harless.

WHEREAS, David Alan Harless, an outstanding firefighter with the Danville Fire Department, was selected as the 2011 American Legion Dan River Post 1097 Firefighter of the Year; and

WHEREAS, a firefighter with the Danville Fire Department since 2005, Alan Harless serves as a member of the Technical Rescue Team, where his specialized training in trench rescue, swift water rescue, and other types of rescue have been of great value to the residents of Danville; and

WHEREAS, a highly trained firefighter, Alan Harless continually seeks opportunities to improve his knowledge and skills, often in his free time; he is currently pursuing a degree in fire science to further his career and help provide better service to local residents; and

WHEREAS, Alan Harless’ tireless work ethic, professionalism, and conscientious manner have earned him the respect of his superiors and fellow firefighters, who know they can count on him for backup and support; and

WHEREAS, Alan Harless displays a positive attitude and passionate commitment to serving others, making him an exemplary role model for new firefighters and a source of inspiration for seasoned veterans; and

WHEREAS, Alan Harless is a valuable asset to the Danville Fire Department and the community of Danville and an outstanding example of the dedication and integrity shown by public safety personnel across the Commonwealth; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates commend David Alan Harless for his selection as the 2011 American Legion Dan River Post 1097 Firefighter of the Year; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to David Alan Harless as an expression of the House of Delegates’ congratulations and respect for his commitment to public safety in the City of Danville.
