11105120DWHEREAS, Centra Health, a nonprofit health care system that includes Centra Lynchburg General Hospital, Centra Southside Community Hospital, and Centra Virginia Baptist Hospital in addition to other health care services and centers, provides award-winning care to its patients; and
WHEREAS, Centra Lynchburg General Hospital was named by Thomson Reuters as one of the nation’s 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals for 2011, one of only three Virginia hospitals to be selected this year; and
WHEREAS, Centra Lynchburg General Hospital also received the Society of Thoracic Surgeons’ highest ranking of three stars for its open heart surgery program for the fourth consecutive year, the only hospital in Virginia to do so; and
WHEREAS, Centra Lynchburg General Hospital has earned joint certification from the Joint Commission as an acute heart attack center and Chest Pain Center and ranks among the top six percent of hospitals in the country for procedural times in relieving blocked arteries; and
WHEREAS, patients at Centra Health facilities receive outstanding nursing care as evidenced by the designation of Centra Lynchburg General and Virginia Baptist Hospitals as Magnet facilities by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, which recognizes excellence in nursing; and
WHEREAS, Centra Health has also received a three-year full accreditation with commendation as a comprehensive community cancer program from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer; and
WHEREAS, an award-winning system, Centra Health focuses on providing the best services and care available to enable its patients to maintain and return to health; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Centra Health for its many outstanding achievements; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Centra Health as an expression of the General Assembly’s congratulations and admiration for the health care system’s commitment to quality care.
