Commending Jack Knapp.

WHEREAS, Jack Knapp retired in 2011 after 28 years as the Executive Director of the Virginia Assembly of Independent Baptists; and

WHEREAS, Jack Knapp continues to serve the Virginia Assembly of Independent Baptists as Executive Director Emeritus; and

WHEREAS, Jack Knapp received his Bachelor of Arts from Bob Jones University in 1964, his Master of Arts from Bob Jones University in 1965, and his Doctor of Divinity from Atlantic Baptist Bible College; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Jack Knapp served faithfully in Christian ministry and education from 1965 to 1984; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Jack Knapp came to Virginia in 1978 to serve as Assistant Pastor and Christian School Administrator of Great Hope Baptist Church and School until 1984; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Jack Knapp served from 1980 to 1997 as Executive Director of the Old Dominion Association of Church Schools and from 1981 to 1997 as the Promotion Chairman of the Mid-Eastern Regional Convention of the American Association of Christian Schools; and

WHEREAS, Jack Knapp has served the Commonwealth on various boards, such as the Nonpublic School Advisory Committee from 1984 to 1985, the Board of Counseling from 1998 to 2006, and the Child Day Care Council from 2006 to 2011; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Jack Knapp for his exemplary service on behalf of the Commonwealth and the Virginia Assembly of Independent Baptists; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Jack Knapp as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect and admiration for his commitment.
