HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 850
Commending Kinhaven School on the occasion of its 40th anniversary.

WHEREAS, Kinhaven School, in Arlington County, celebrates its 40th anniversary during 2011; and

WHEREAS, licensed by Arlington County and the Commonwealth, Kinhaven School has a long history of providing high quality education to children of all religious, cultural, and social backgrounds; and

WHEREAS, Kinhaven is a parent-run, cooperative preschool with a professional director and a staff of trained teachers and assistants who conduct the daily operations of the school; and

WHEREAS, parents participate in the day-to-day program by performing a wide range of functional or administrative duties; and

WHEREAS, Kinhaven’s teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that young children learn best through play; and

WHEREAS, this philosophy is upheld by professional educators with activities that foster a stimulating, nurturing atmosphere in which preschoolers can learn and grow; and

WHEREAS, for 40 years, the dedicated faculty, administration, and parents of Kinhaven School have built a strong relationship with the community to provide preschoolers with a solid foundation for their later educational experiences; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Kinhaven School on the occasion of its 40th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Director Amy Hitchcock as an expression of the General Assembly’s recognition of this milestone in the successful history of Kinhaven School.
