HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 812
Commending the James River High School boys' volleyball team.

WHEREAS, the James River High School boys’ volleyball team capped an exciting season by winning the Virginia High School League, Group AAA state boys’ volleyball championship on November 20, 2010; and

WHEREAS, following an outstanding regular season, the James River High School Rapids came from behind to defeat Atlee High School in the semifinal match-up, 3 - 2, and claimed a hard fought victory over Cosby High School to clinch the Dominion District Tournament championship; and

WHEREAS, in an exciting show of team solidarity and player determination, the James River Rapids overcame a two game deficit to defeat Matoaca High School, 3 - 2, in the Central Region Tournament semifinals and for the second time defeated Cosby High School, 3 - 0, in the region finals to gain victory as the Central Region Tournament champions; and

WHEREAS, Chesterfield County’s James River High School, with a season record of 21 wins to five losses, defeated the Eastern Region champions, Ocean Lakes High School, with a season record of 25 wins to two losses, 3 - 2 in the state title game; and

WHEREAS, all James River High School boys’ volleyball team members consistently contributed throughout the season; the members are seniors Michael Harrier, Troy Keohane, Darren Kilby, and Simon Wilson; juniors Sam Albus, Colin Moore, English Snidow, Eric Sullivan, and Harry Tisdale; sophomores Mitchell Ford, Pete Sowers, Kaeler Sullivan, and Jonathan Wert; freshman Josh Carrington; and managers Katie Crisco and Aubrey Duignam; and

WHEREAS, the triumphant performance of the 2010 James River Rapids is a tribute to the talent, dedication, and perseverance of the players; the leadership of Head Coach Terry Ford assisted by Randy Cox and Steve Hurst; and the support of Principal John Titus, Athletic Director Tim Llewellyn, and the parents and students of James River High School; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend the James River High School boys’ volleyball team for winning the Virginia High School League, Group AAA state boys’ volleyball championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Coach Terry Ford as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for the championship performance of the James River High School boys’ volleyball team.
