Commending Lindsay Trout.

WHEREAS, Lindsay Trout was honored by the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce and Reston Interfaith, Inc., with a prestigious 2011 Best of Reston Award; and

WHEREAS, the Best of Reston Awards were established to recognize individuals, businesses, and organizations that have demonstrated a strong commitment to serving the greater Reston community and improving the lives of others; and

WHEREAS, a proud graduate of the South Lakes High School class of 1991, Lindsay Trout returned to her alma mater as a teacher in 1995 and was promoted to Assistant Director of Student Services in 2009; and

WHEREAS, Lindsay Trout is an exemplary employee of Fairfax County Public Schools, known for her passionate dedication to her students and efforts to promote tolerance, acceptance, and responsibility among the socioeconomically diverse student population and the community at large; and

WHEREAS, Lindsay Trout has helped young adults understand the power and responsibility they have to make a difference in their community; and

WHEREAS, in July 2010, Lindsay Trout worked with students to raise $19,500 to help a Reston family pay for burial services, a memorial, and living expenses after the death of a son who was a South Lakes High School student; and

WHEREAS, in March 2009, Lindsay Trout worked with students to raise $4,900 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association; and

WHEREAS, in December 2008, Lindsay Trout worked with students to organize a bone marrow drive in the name of a former South Lakes High School student suffering from leukemia, and raised over $5,000 for the National Bone Marrow Registry; and

WHEREAS, Lindsay Trout coordinated multiple environmental cleanup projects to improve the area around the school and the surrounding community; and

WHEREAS, from October 2006 to January 2007, Lindsay Trout led the “Fight for a Seahawk,” which raised over $22,000 to help a student battling cancer; and

WHEREAS, from September to December 2005, Lindsay Trout facilitated the Hurricane Katrina Relief Fundraiser, in which students, teachers, and parents raised over $10,000 for donation to Habitat for Humanity of New Orleans; and

WHEREAS, from May 2003 until the present, Lindsay Trout has organized a Day Prom and sporting activities for students with special needs; and

WHEREAS, Lindsay Trout continues to guide students to know the importance of serving the greater good and has inspired students, parents, teachers, and community members alike through her enthusiastic and creative approach to volunteerism and involvement; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend and congratulate Lindsay Trout on her outstanding service to the residents of Northern Virginia and on her well-deserved honor as a 2011 Best of Reston Award recipient; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Lindsay Trout as an expression of the General Assembly’s appreciation of her many achievements and best wishes for continued success.
