2011 SESSION
11104301DWHEREAS, Khristin Kyllo, a charismatic scholar-athlete and native of Vienna, died on January 13, 2011; and
WHEREAS, born July 12, 1992, Khristin Kyllo was the cherished daughter of Tom and Julie and the beloved older sister of Tommy; and
WHEREAS, throughout her childhood, Khristin Kyllo was described as a happy and extremely personable girl with a competitive spirit and a warm heart; and
WHEREAS, in the spring of 2010, Khristin Kyllo graduated from James Madison High School, where she was remembered as a standout student and an exemplary athlete on both the basketball and softball teams; and
WHEREAS, Khristin Kyllo brought her full energies and concentration to the basketball court and the softball field, energizing her teammates and winning the admiration of her coaches for her determination; and
WHEREAS, undaunted by the memory loss and accompanying seizures that she first experienced in February of 2010, Khristin Kyllo remained upbeat and high-energy while she re-conquered several academic subjects; and
WHEREAS, while relearning the game of softball her senior year, Khristin Kyllo helped coach younger players on the James Madison High School softball team by running a hitting station where each batter received suggestions for perfecting her swing; and
WHEREAS, Khristin Kyllo immersed herself in campus life at Princeton University, where she played on the softball team; and
WHEREAS, the James Madison High School girls’ basketball team dedicated their January 14, 2011, victory against Langley High School to Khristin Kyllo; and
WHEREAS, hundreds of friends, neighbors, and high school classmates, teammates, teachers, and coaches gathered at the James Madison High School rock for a candlelit vigil on January 15, 2011, to celebrate the vibrant life of Khristin Kyllo with stories of her sense of humor and passion for life; and
WHEREAS, Khristin Kyllo will be fondly remembered by her parents, Tom and Julie; her brother, Tommy; her grandmother, Carol; and all whose days she brightened with her enthusiasm and her smile; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Khristin Kyllo, a charismatic scholar-athlete; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Khristin Kyllo as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for her memory.
