Commending Tommy Woodson.

WHEREAS, Tommy Woodson was honored to be recognized as the Virginia Independent Automobile Dealers Association Quality Dealer of the Year for 2006; and

WHEREAS, the Virginia Independent Automobile Dealers Association Quality Dealer of the Year award recognizes independent automobile dealers for their contributions to the industry, community and professional service, and adherence to a code of ethics; and

WHEREAS, the owner of Woodson Auto Sales in Goochland, Tommy Woodson began his exemplary career in the automotive business at Bill Parrish Auto before becoming a lot attendant with McGuire Motors; he then moved into detailing and light mechanical duties a few years later; and

WHEREAS, respected for his integrity and strong work ethic, Tommy Woodson was promoted to salesman in 1979 and sales manager/vice president in 1985, a position he held until he decided to open his own business, Woodson Auto Sales, in 1998; and

WHEREAS, with a motto of “Where Quality is Preferred over Quantity,” Tommy Woodson sells late-model, low-mileage, pre-owned cars, trucks, and vans with pride instead of pressure, meeting his customers’ needs; and

WHEREAS, a member of the Better Business Bureau, Tommy Woodson has served his community as a board member for the United States Selective Service and through church and community activities; and

WHEREAS, Tommy Woodson has also rendered valuable service to the Commonwealth through his service as a member of the Motor Vehicle Dealer Board; and

WHEREAS, in addition to the coveted statewide award, Tommy Woodson was chosen as the District Quality Dealer and had the opportunity to represent the Commonwealth at the national convention in Nashville, Tennessee; and

WHEREAS, Tommy Woodson’s excellent business acumen and dedication to the automobile industry, his community, and the Virginia Independent Automobile Dealers Association make him an outstanding recipient of this prestigious award; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Tommy Woodson for his selection as the Virginia Independent Automobile Dealers Association Quality Dealer of the Year for 2006; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Tommy Woodson as an expression of the General Assembly’s appreciation for his achievement and best wishes in his future endeavors.
