WHEREAS, Janice Holland is commended for her longtime service to Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital and the citizens of Franklin County; and

WHEREAS, Janice Holland retired from Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital on August 27, 2004, after 47 years of outstanding service; and

WHEREAS, in 1957 Janice Holland joined the staff of Franklin Memorial Hospital two weeks after graduating from high school; and

WHEREAS, an enthusiastic and valued employee, Janice Holland started as an assistant credit manager and served as the manager of the business office for several years before retiring as a patient financial specialist; and

WHEREAS, Janice Holland also served as the hospital historian, taking photographs to document the hospital’s growth from a small hospital to its current state-of-the-art facility; and

WHEREAS, Janice Holland, the longest tenured employee at Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital, joined the Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital Auxiliary as soon as she retired and currently serves as president of the Auxiliary; and

WHEREAS, Janice Holland continues to serve as the hospital’s unofficial historian, helping transfer the hospital’s photograph collection to DVDs and works at the information desk, where she helps guide patients and visitors; and

WHEREAS, Janice Holland generously gives of her time and talents in the community as a volunteer at the Stepping Stone Mission, treasurer of her Sunday school class at Franklin Heights Baptist Church, and treasurer of the Woodmen of the World Lodge 89; and

WHEREAS, Janice Holland helps out wherever she is needed at the hospital or in the community and has enriched the lives of thousands of people over the years with her kind heart and helping hand; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Janice Holland on her longtime service to Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Janice Holland as an expression of the General Assembly’s gratitude, respect, and admiration for her commitment to serving the citizens of Franklin County.
