Celebrating the life of Creston Martin Owen.

WHEREAS, Creston Martin Owen, a devoted civic leader and successful Manassas entrepreneur, died on November 30, 2010; and

WHEREAS, born in Memphis, Tennessee, on December 15, 1964, Creston Owen moved with his family to Prince William County, where he graduated from Lake Braddock Secondary School before receiving a bachelor’s degree from Ferrum College; and

WHEREAS, at their home on Saturday Acres Farm II, Creston Owen and his wife, Sharon, managed a successful real estate business and enjoyed breeding and raising Morgan horses and Jack Russell terriers in an idyllic setting; and

WHEREAS, a devoted father, Creston Owen listed spending time with his children, Ashley and Ryan, as one of his favorite activities; and

WHEREAS, Creston Owen exhibited incredible business acumen and leadership, successfully contributing to several telecommunications firms before launching Falcon Communications Solutions Inc., of which he was president and CEO; and

WHEREAS, recognized as a local history buff, Creston Owen served terms as the chairman and treasurer of Historic Manassas, Inc., worked with Old Town Manassas and the Civil War Sesquicentennial Network, and spent countless hours working on the 150th Commemoration of the First Battle of Manassas; and

WHEREAS, with his seemingly immeasurable drive, Creston Owen took part in many facets of civic life; he was a generous supporter of the Manassas Center for the Arts, the Waters Foundation, and Habitat for Humanity of Prince William County, Manassas, and Manassas Park; and

WHEREAS, Creston Owen was a member of the Rotary Club of Manassas and the Quantico/Belvoir Regional Business Alliance, and former chairman of the Prince William Chamber of Commerce; and

WHEREAS, as the recipient of 20 business and community awards, Creston Owen was acknowledged as an innovative entrepreneur, an esteemed contributor to the social fabric of Manassas and Prince William County, and an outstanding Virginian; and

WHEREAS, dedicated to his family, Creston Owen will be missed and fondly remembered by his wife and beloved children and other family members, friends, and the many members of the Manassas and Prince William County community whose lives he touched; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of a prominent civic leader and admired local figure, Creston Martin Owen; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Creston Martin Owen as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for his memory.
