HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 737
Commending Brittany Nicole Poteet.

WHEREAS, Brittany Nicole Poteet, an exemplary young woman from Chester, was crowned Miss Virginia USA 2011; and

WHEREAS, Brittany Nicole “Nikki” Poteet was selected over more than 25 other extremely talented contestants at the competition held at the Sandler Center for Performing Arts in Virginia Beach; and

WHEREAS, a graduate of Thomas Dale High School, Nikki Poteet received a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering and a master’s degree in mechanical and nuclear engineering from Virginia Commonwealth University; and

WHEREAS, during her reign as Miss Virginia USA, Nikki Poteet will travel across the Commonwealth, where she will promote the importance of science and mathematics to high school students; and

WHEREAS, as Nikki Poteet embarks on her professional career, she hopes to combine her areas of education to research natural forms of cancer treatment, such as dietary changes and the use of fruit seeds that contain the enzyme Amygdalin; and

WHEREAS, in addition to her rigorous academic studies, Nikki Poteet has also pursued her love of music; she is a talented saxophone player and enjoys every opportunity to play; and

WHEREAS, an exceptionally poised, gracious, and intelligent young woman, Nikki Poteet is well qualified to represent the Commonwealth as Miss Virginia USA 2011; and

WHEREAS, Nikki Poteet will compete for the Miss USA title at the Miss USA pageant to be held in Las Vegas in 2011; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Brittany Nicole Poteet on her selection as Miss Virginia USA 2011; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Brittany Nicole Poteet as an expression of the General Assembly’s congratulations and admiration for her many accomplishments.
