2011 SESSION
WHEREAS, the Council for the Arts of Herndon is the Town of Herndon’s officially designated local arts agency; and
WHEREAS, the Council for the Arts of Herndon is a private, not-for-profit charitable organization supported by citizens, businesses, and the public sector including the Town of Herndon and the Arts Council of Fairfax County; and
WHEREAS, the Council for the Arts of Herndon creates opportunities for local artists to showcase their talents; and
WHEREAS, the Council for the Arts of Herndon provides local arts programming; and
WHEREAS, the Council for the Arts of Herndon fosters the development of artists and audiences; and
WHEREAS, the Council for the Arts of Herndon improves opportunities for people who have limited access to the arts to participate in art activities; and
WHEREAS, the Council for the Arts of Herndon reaches out beyond the walls of museums and theatres to put the arts in the places where people live, work, and play; and
WHEREAS, it is the Council’s charge to provide opportunities to share cultural diversities through art; and
WHEREAS, it is also the mission of the Council to help nurture future artists, promote current ones, and bring out the talents of everyone; and
WHEREAS, the Council for the Arts of Herndon’s mission is to promote an appreciation and support of and interest in the arts and to provide high quality arts programs in the greater Herndon area; and
WHEREAS, the Council for the Arts of Herndon’s goals are to produce high quality arts programs, increase awareness of the arts, increase and improve opportunities for artists to perform and exhibit, improve arts education and access to the arts for special populations, increase financial support for the arts, and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Arts Council; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend and congratulate the Council for the Arts of Herndon on the occasion of its 25th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Council for the Arts of Herndon, as an expression of the General Assembly’s gratitude to the Council for its commitment to the arts of Herndon and best wishes for a joyful 25th anniversary celebration.
