11100517DWHEREAS, Richard Lynn Williamson of Suffolk, a beloved husband and father, devoted employee, and respected citizen, died on April 26, 2010; and
WHEREAS, a native of Lynchburg, Richard Williamson was born in 1937 and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School before entering the workforce; and
WHEREAS, a valued and hard-working employee, Richard Williamson worked for many years for Tidewater Feed and Seed in Portsmouth and retired from the Elevator Union after a successful career; and
WHEREAS, an active man who enjoyed fixing things, Richard Williamson continued to work even in retirement as a courier for H & R Block and as a handyman helping out those in need; and
WHEREAS, known for his kind smile, sense of humor, and generous heart, Richard Williamson’s great joy was traveling and spending time with his beloved wife, children, and grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, throughout his life, Richard Williamson worked to lift up those around him and leaves behind a legacy of love, respect, and service; and
WHEREAS, Richard Williamson will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 46 years, Margaret; children Dennis, Jerry, Rick, and Donna and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of a beloved husband and father, devoted employee, and respected citizen; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Richard Lynn Williamson as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
