11100540DWHEREAS, Lynda Lee Waddill, a former Division of Legislative Services employee from Richmond, died on April 24, 2010, ending her long and courageous battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis; and
WHEREAS, Lynda Waddill attended Hermitage High School and received a bachelor’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University; she later returned to receive a master’s degree; and
WHEREAS, Lynda Waddill began her career in public service with the Virginia Senate Clerk’s Office as a legislative session secretary for Senator Janet Howell during the 2001 Regular Session; and
WHEREAS, later that year, Lynda Waddill joined the Division of Legislative Services, where she held several positions and in 2005, became a research associate assigned to the special projects section; and
WHEREAS, Lynda Waddill drafted hundreds of commending, commemorative, and memorial resolutions in honor of noted citizens and organizations to be introduced during the General Assembly Session; and
WHEREAS, during the legislative interim, Lynda Waddill was the editor of the division’s publications, including The Legislative Record, Session Highlights, and the Virginia Legislative Issue Brief; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of her numerous achievements, Lynda Waddill received the prestigious legislative commendation certificate for her dedicated service as legislative scribe to the Virginia General Assembly; and
WHEREAS, Lynda Waddill loved her work and was admired and respected for her creative intellect, generous heart, and courageous spirit; and
WHEREAS, in her free time, Lynda Waddill was an avid horticulturalist and a passionate writer; she also thoroughly enjoyed fishing on the Potomac with her family; and
WHEREAS, a loving mother and sister and devoted daughter, Lynda Waddill will be greatly missed by her son, Matthew; parents, George and Barbara Waddill; brothers, Larry and George; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of a dedicated Division of Legislative Services employee, Lynda Lee Waddill; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Lynda Lee Waddill as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for her memory.
