2011 SESSION
WHEREAS, United States Army Private First Class Alvaro R. Regaledo-Sessarego of Virginia Beach died from injuries he sustained in a non-combat related incident in Dahuk, Iraq, on May 30, 2010; and
WHEREAS, a native of Peru, Alvaro Regaledo-Sessarego had enjoyed a career in the Peruvian military as a sailor before he decided to come to the United States; and
WHEREAS, a hard-working and industrious man, Alvaro Regaledo-Sessarego worked in construction in the Virginia Beach area, where he met his beloved wife, Teresa; and
WHEREAS, Alvaro Regaledo-Sessarego loved his new homeland and studied to become a citizen; he proudly took his citizenship oath in the fall of 2009; and
WHEREAS, desirous to give back to his new country and missing a military life, Alvaro Regadelo-Sessarego decided to enlist in the United States Army; and
WHEREAS, Private First Class (PFC) Alvaro Regaledo-Sessarego was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 36th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division based in Fort Bliss, Texas; and
WHEREAS, while stationed in Dahuk, Iraq, PFC Alvaro Regaledo-Sessarego suffered severe burns in a non-combat related incident on April 18, 2010; and
WHEREAS, PFC Alvaro Regaledo-Sessarego will be fondly remembered for his enthusiasm for his new life, commitment to his country, and love for his family; and
WHEREAS, Alvaro Regaledo-Sessarego will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Teresa; stepsons Andrew, Derrick, and Richard; his daughter who still lives in Peru; and his comrades and friends; and
WHEREAS, PFC Regaledo-Sessarego’s death is a reminder of the perils faced daily by the thousands of Americans who serve in our armed forces overseas and whose devotion to duty places them in harm’s way; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of a courageous and patriotic Virginian, Private First Class Alvaro R. Regaledo-Sessarego; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Private First Class Alvaro R. Regaledo-Sessarego as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
